In the snack production lines at Kuipers Food Processing Machinery, u-remote guarantees reliable control processes. Klippon Connect AAP provides the Dutch plant manufacturer with a structured control voltage distribution.

Kuipers Food Processing Machinery is a global specialist in machinery and production lines for the processing of potato-based snacks, snack pellets, nuts and seeds. These include processes such as frying, baking and mixing different foodstuffs. With its systems, the mechanical engineering company can support a wide variety of requirements and production capacities, with products ranging from simple start-up sets right through to tailor-made high-end systems.

Since Kuipers machines are modular in structure, upgrading the machine-line control system required a wide-ranging research into a new remote I/O system.

“After an extensive search, we were impressed by the user-friendliness, flexible design, integrated safety and compactness of u-remote ”, Alwin Vis, Project Manager at Kuipers, reports. “We are also planning on implementing the associated web-based remote maintenance solution u-link in the future, which will make it easy for us to carry out monitoring and remote diagnosis. As a result, our support team will be able to provide our customers with quick answers relating to troubleshooting, operation, process optimisation and the servicing of the various systems.”

Kuipers has also opted to rely on Weidmüller to ensure perfect communication within the network of modular systems. Within a PROFINET network, secure communication between individual components such as the u-remote stations is established via Weidmüller Ethernet switches .

Space-saving miracle in control voltage distribution

Space is becoming increasingly precious, in particular in the small panels for modular systems such as those used by Kuipers, and this space should not be taken up by complex distribution solutions. For this reason, Kuipers is using another solution from Weidmüller in this area too. The Klippon Connect potential distribution terminal blocks allow for the neat implementation of the control voltage distribution while simultaneously helping to save space. Thanks to the block solution and the push-in technology, the terminal blocks can also be installed easier and more quickly compared to previous solutions.

“The processes that are used in the field of food processing are very specific, and the requirements in terms of our machinery vary from order to order. We are therefore even more delighted by the wide solution range from Weidmüller”, says Alwin Vis.
